“Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”
2 Corinthians 4:16

Today, I noticed a tree that was almost completely green and still full of life, but one small branch had already turned red and looked as if it were dying. It had entered a different season before the rest of the tree, and it reminded me of how we can sometimes feel. One part of us may be grieving, exhausted, wounded, or even feel completely dead, while another part of us is still fighting to live. Both can be true at the same time.
A dream may have ended. Our health may have changed. We may have lost someone, something, or even a version of ourselves we thought would always be there. That pain can become so consuming that we forget to notice everything within us that is still alive. But the tree did not stop living because one branch was changing. Its roots were still planted, its trunk was still standing, and most of its leaves were still reaching toward the light.
Faith does not mean pretending that nothing has been lost. It means grieving what has changed while trusting that God is still caring for everything that remains. One hurting branch does not mean the entire tree is dead, and one painful part of your story does not get to decide how the whole story ends. There is still life in you. There is still purpose in you. God is still working, even in the places that feel broken. Keep reaching toward the light.
Prayer
Lord, help me grieve the parts of my life that have changed without losing sight of everything You are still keeping alive within me. Strengthen the parts of me that are tired and remind me that my story is not over. Help me continue reaching toward Your light, one day at a time. Amen.
Reflection
What part of your life feels as though it is fading, and where can you still see signs that God is keeping something alive?
